The Blog That Helped Me Make 0 in One Week—Without Losing My Mind

Okay, so I don’t usually write stuff like this. But when something works, you have to share it—especially when it involves money. Real, not-scammy, not-going-to-sell-your-soul type money.

About a month ago, I was in a tight spot. My credit card bill was looking mean, rent was creeping up, and of course, that’s when my car decided to do the whole “mysterious noise + check engine light” combo. I needed to come up with $600 fast. Not in a few months. Not after taking a course. I needed cash, like, now.

So I did what anyone would do: I Googled how to make $600 fast.

And let me tell you, I got everything from “sell your plasma” to “start a dropshipping empire overnight.” Uhhh… no thanks.

That’s when I stumbled across this blog by Maya Waters—and holy crap, it was like someone handed me a flashlight in a pitch-black basement.

First off, Maya’s not some 20-something tech bro yelling at you to “grind harder.” She’s a single mom who writes like your brutally honest but hilarious big sister. The kind who tells it like it is, but still believes in you even when you don’t believe in yourself. And her post on how to make 600 fast was exactly what I needed.

What I loved most was that she didn’t just dump a giant list of vague ideas. She broke it down step by step, with beginner-friendly instructions for exactly how to get started—whether you’re more of a laptop-in-bed person or a knock-on-doors-and-hustle type.

She splits the post into two parts:

    • Part One: How to make money online (without showing your face, spending money, or needing followers)
    • Part Two: How to make money offline (like cleaning windows or running simple errands in your neighborhood)

I started with the online part, which walks you through making YouTube Shorts using free tools like Pictory. I’d never made a video in my life—but Maya made it so simple, I actually had fun doing it. After uploading a few short videos, I saw views—and dollars—trickle in.

Then I got brave and tried her offline method too: window cleaning. I followed her script, used her pricing tips, and offered the service in a clean neighborhood nearby. The first guy said no. The second said yes—and I made $120 in two hours. Not bad for someone who didn’t even own a squeegee a few days earlier.

By the end of the week? I’d made just over $600. No fluff, no “course required,” no asking my friends to buy oils or join my pyramid scheme.

Maya’s blog is the real deal. If you’ve ever found yourself Googling things like how to pay rent this month, side hustles that actually work, or is it too late to live in a van by the river—please do yourself a favor and read her post on how to make $600 fast.

I’ve bookmarked her site and signed up for her newsletter. If Maya writes it, I’m reading it.

Because in a world full of financial fluff, it’s nice to find someone who actually knows what they’re talking about—and who wants to help you get where you’re going, one smart step at a time.
